The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) works to provide educational and networking opportunities for organizations in the credentialing industry. They do this with the help of many dedicated professionals—including AAMA Executive Director Donald Balasa, JD, MBA.
A 30-year member of ICE, Balasa has served on the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 2007 and has served as its chair since 2010. He was recently featured and thanked for his work as a board member in one of the institute’s "ICE Central" communications. Here's what he had to say about working with ICE:
"Volunteering with ICE has given me clearer insights into the federal/national issues impacting professional credentialing, such as the decision of the Supreme Court in the New Haven Firefighters case, and the regulations issued by the Department of Justice about testing accommodations that must be provided under the Americans with Disabilities Act. I have had the opportunity to employ my writing and speaking abilities on behalf of ICE and the NCCA, and my tenure as Chair of the NCCA has honed my skills in running a meeting. AAMA has also benefited by gaining a more visible profile on Capitol Hill because of my meetings with United States Senators, Representatives, and their staffers on behalf of ICE."
Many thanks to Executive Director Balasa for his many and great achievements on behalf of the profession and the credential!
