Full-time, 72 hours per pay period. Rotating 12 hour shifts
(days / overnights) including every other weekend and holiday.
Monitor Tech in Cardiology provides support services to this department. Some duties expected but not limited to include: monitoring and interpreting patient rhythms, tear down and assemble patient charts, and calling physician offices for consults and patient appointments. In addition, this role includes reception duties i.e. answering phones and providing family and visitor directions. Must have strong communication skills to collaborate with other health care team members. Expected to provide quality customer service. This position may have access to medications for purposes of distribution to licensed personnel.
Must have rhythm monitoring and interpretation skills. Must have good interpersonal skills, must know medical terminology, must be organized and have the ability to prioritize work. Must know how to use organizational policies and procedures. Requires knowledge of department supplies and monitoring equipment. Requires use of multi-line telephone system, fax and copy machines, pneumatic system, computer and paging systems. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress. Job Knowledge and Skills: Must have good interpersonal skills, must have good command of the English language, and must know medical terminology, organizational policies, and procedures. Requires knowledge of supplies and medical equipment. Requires use of multi-line telephone system, fax and copy machines, pneumatic system, computer and paging systems. Word processing skills will be necessary. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress. Must pass Basic Arrhythmia test after completion of the course and demonstrate rhythm monitoring and interpretation skills. Refer to General HUC Self Assessment / Orientation for job specific skills.
Must have CPR training. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families and visitors and RNs. Must be able to accept direction and delegation from RNs. Must be able to do troubleshooting with telemetry equipment and seek assistance when needed. Must be able to work under busy conditions.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any / all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience with
clerical / business services, communications equipment, and computer entry are desirable but not essential. HUC / secretarial training preferred.
